Internet Myth #2 - Chicken By-product Meal or Meat By-products include beaks, feathers and hooves, are indigestible and are harmful or should not be in pet food.

NOT TRUE! You've been duped if you believe this. By definition "Meat meal is the rendered product from mammal tissues, exclusive of any added blood, hair, hoof, horn, hide trimmings, manure, stomach and rumen contents except in such amounts as may occur unavoidably in good processing practices."

"Poultry meal is the dry rendered product from a combination of clean flesh and skin with or without accompanying bone, derived from the parts of whole carcasses of poultry or a combination thereof, exclusive of feathers, heads, feet, and entrails.

Lets think about this logically for a moment. In the wild, cats and dogs would eat the entire carcass of the prey. That would include as a delicacy the internal organs not typically used in the human food trade. Intestines, spleen, blood vessels, heart, kidneys, etc etc all would be ingested and all fall into the category of "meat by-products".

Certain pet-food companies have made the words meat by-products bad ones in order to sell more of their own food. By doing so, they are being deceiptful and propagating myths and fallacies. Be wary of such companies.
